Use Your Clever was an interactive activation for La Trobe University, launched at the VCE Careers Expo in 2018. Three custom-designed “Clever Machines” challenged prospective students to pay with their clever instead of cash — through bespoke games that tested emotional intelligence, teamwork and other real-world skills valued by employers.
Each game measured different strengths and aptitudes, with players receiving personalised clever scores via follow-up email. In an environment where students are bombarded with gimmicks and giveaways, the activation stood apart by being genuinely educational and engaging — communicating La Trobe’s “All Kinds of Clever” brand positioning while generating a new sales lead every 60 seconds.
I worked on this activation as part of the EXP team, handling technical operations — deploying, troubleshooting and monitoring the machines.
